Kitchen order ticket explained

A kitchen order ticket — often called a chit, ticket, or KOT — is the kitchen's copy of a guest order. It lists what to cook, how many, with which modifiers, and for which table or order number. Accurate tickets are the foundation of consistent food execution.

Common challenges

  • Manual retyping from POS to kitchen creates errors.
  • Modifiers and allergies get omitted on rushed tickets.
  • Duplicate or voided items are not removed from the pass quickly enough.
